I'm a bit late on this post, but it's too good not to share! Earlier this year, I wrapped up the 21-22 season in my hometown performing with the Omaha Symphony. I adore this orchestra and the fact that I get to share my skills with the community that first inspired me to be a musician. Our concert was featured on the Violin Channel, a prominent Classical Music publication that covers music news and media all over the world. Our season finale was broadcasted by the Violin Channel in it's entirety, and I'm happy to say you can watch me in action by clicking the logo below!

This program features the world premiere performance of British composer Martin Kennedy's Violin Concerto, as well as Wagner's Overture to Tannhäuser and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4 in F minor, Op. 36.

Omaha Symphony Returns Full Force

Posted on Saturday, October 9, 2021

When the pandemic came on the scene in the spring of 2020, practically every aspect about the way we live changed. Performing arts organizations were severely impacted, most cancelled all upcoming performances, putting them under great financial strain. It was the first time in my career that I didn't have performances booked, which was equally terrifying from a financial standpoint, but also deeply disheartening. Making music is at the heart of my identity and one of the biggest inspirations in my life.

Now, after almost 18 months, things are finally starting to turn around for the performance industry. Concert halls are opening their doors and orchestras are performing for live audiences again. At the end of September, I joined my colleagues with the Omaha Symphony at the Holland Performing Arts Center once again. Under the direction of our new Music Director Ankush Kumar Bahl, the orchestra returned "in full force" with "every seat [filled] with 70 musicians on stage" according to WOWT Channel 6 news of Omaha. I was thrilled to see the symphony highlighted in local news and tickled to see myself rehearsing in the news clip!

Auditions for AFA Chamber Music Institute

AFA

Chamber Music Institute

The American Festival for the Arts (AFA) is a fantastic organization dedicated to providing musical enrichment experiences to students throughout Houston. I have been a faculty member for their Chamber Music Institute for two years now and I've got to say, it's a fantastic opportunity and experience! Auditions will be happening in January for the spring semester 2021. Auditions consist of sight-reading, a scale, and a solo of your choice.

What is Chamber Music

Chamber music is a small ensemble, typically 2-5 musicians, with only one person playing each part. Examples of a chamber music ensemble include but are not limited to: a string quartet (which consists of 2 violins, a viola and cello) a string trio (which can be a violin, viola, cello, or 2 violins with 1 viola) or a piano trio (violin, cello and piano). Each ensemble rehearses with a faculty member once a week for approximately 2 hours. At the end of the semester, AFA organizes a student recital where chamber music groups can perform the pieces they've worked on. This is a different opportunity than private lessons or orchestra. Auditions are in January 2021.
